A friend of mine is planning on relocating to Philly from NY. They are looking for an old home they can restore with land and a barn. He is a custom fine furniture craftsman, she is a massotherapist. They love culture, great places to dine and alternative, progressive types of areas. They really LOVE historic buildings, places to restore, etc.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

PS how bad are the winters?

Chester County does a great job with their historic buildings.

West Chester vacinity, say from Chadds Ford to Downingtown(Brandywine Valley) would be a great place to check out.The town of West Chester has a nice vibe to it.

Phoenixville area is another place worth checking out.

Bucks and Montgomery Counties will also offer you great options.

The winters are cold but tolerable. You'll get a cold snap where it might not get above freezing for a couple weeks, a half dozen snow/ice storms in Jan/ Feb. But the winters don't linger like they do in New England, NY state etc.

Default Upper Montgomery and Bucks County

There are a number of nicer farms available in upper Montgomery county as well as Bucks County. Price range will be the major factor. Try the Red Hill & Quakertown Areas. I know of at least 3 10+ acre farms in that area. Email me if you can't find what you are looking for.
