ok, 56.24 for just internet and local phone; my bill has notched up three times in 6 months. I'm going to make the call and bluff (maybe). Any suggestions?

Do you mind saying what it was from beginning to now? I live in Portland, Oregon and that's cheap compared to here. I'm planning a move to PHX in a few months and in the process of figuring out which providers I will use.

I called to bluff on my cable bill but they only offered a temporary discount of about $20 for 6 months. I will call to cancel service again, no bluff this time.

You can thank the sports salaries for the continuous uptick in cable prices.

There was an article in the AZ paper several months ago explaining that the biggest cost cable companies have is paying for sports programs due to the inflated salaries of players which demand more $$$ from stations that show the games.

The cost of airing the games is passed down to all of us via increased cable prices.

Just call them up and ask. Be nice about it because the person on the other end of the line is a worker bee, someone who probably likes honey over angst, so be pleasant and ask if there is a discount that can be applied to your account, and maybe the person might apply a back dated credit for you too.

yeah but if it's Cox they're spreading it out across all their bundled services. (Thanks for the info btw, I think $43 is cheap! 56 brings it to about where Portland is now with Qwest.)

Good point, Altus.

What about the "multiple" announcers who contribute absolutely nothing to the game other than inflating the costs?

As an example . . . Mark Grace and Daron Sutton rudely and constantly babble unimportant BS instead of focusing on the actual D'Backs Game. Kinda like sitting in a movie theater behind a couple of rude, chatty school girls.

OT: OK now.... the absolute worst offenders are married couples who whisper loudly and rattle their munchy bags!
