Yeah, I noticed that there are getting more brunettes now in Phoenix nowadays, but when I first came to Arizona (in 2001), there was hardly any, not counting the Mexican/Hispanic population.

Yeah, the sun here will bleach the hair, I've noticed that lately with my own hair. But I've started wearing hats more often with some of my outfits to keep my dark brunette shade from fading any more. But that's just me, I prefer brunette on me.

Chlorine and salons are to blame for this. Nationality doesn't matter when it comes to nasty unnatural salon jobs.

I'm moving to Phx and am a natural blonde - but I color my hair darker. Not that it matters, just throwin' it in!

Well Linda Jo, I am a hair color afficianado, I post on Fashion n Beauty alot. I moved here 4 mo. ago from the Midwest and I have noticed that the dry climate has an impact on my hair. Duller, dryer, no natural curl/wave.I have noticed that women here tend to be blonde, very dark brown/ black which is in fashion now, or definite red. I have been medium/ light brown with red tones for a awhile and I notice that mid tones only look good when hair is healthy and shiny looking. So I am going lighter, to a dark blonde/red.
I think medium tones are harder to pull off when your hair is dull or sun damaged. It can look blah. So maybe thats part of the trend. You have the exotic dark haired women, and dark dyes always add shine if done well, and you have all the women who are medium who just maybe go blonde because faded, dull brown is not so good. Might as well be blonde? IDK???Just my theory?

PHX Lady, that would be "RILLY!!"

(I grew up in SoCal outside L.A. ... used to get teased about saying RILLY a lot, when I lived elsewhere.)

Yeah, I am thinking if I do go blonde here, my Midwestern friends will think I am under the West Coast influence But seriously, the midtones get brassy in heartbeat under this crazy strong sun, I am thinking it may easier to go dark again or go blonde!

While we are on the hair subject, does anyone have referrals for a good hair colorist/stylist in Gilbert/Chandler area? Feel free to DM me if you don't want the world to know who's really good. I promise to stay mum!

But not to go OT, yes being blonde makes sense here, due to fade
