Excellent point, but don't forget poor air quality.

Don't forget to get additional legal claim help for those who made the mistake of not protecting themselves the first time. Paying a $40,000 bill for a cracked foundation would be better than a $100,000 bill if you had to pay the full price.

What do you mean? Who should not forget? What is "additional legal claim help"? Please clarify your statements for those of us who reason in a linear, logical manner. Thanks.

People who purchased without proper legal protection, but now are dealing with expensive repairs. After the fact legal protection can help mitigate losses dealing from something like foundation crack discovery.

But the builders have a systematic denial approach, similar to that of health insurance companies or home warranty companies. Hair-line cracks may not be covered....As far as suing the builder, thet almost automatically do this in Las Vegas and for all intents and purposes, the lawyers make a lot, and the homeowners get almost nothing. The builders look at it as a cost of doing business.

LV is a huge boondoggle when it comes to construction defect .... the homeowners, etc do get their issues replaced and the lawyers do get a ton of $$$ which they then use to get their favorite judges re-elected...............

the legal environment is a little more sane down here - but I know of many instances where there have been large class actions that have included repairing a couple hundred homes at $30k a pop

Good point khuntrever, I have seen this type of problem myself, especially with homes out here in the Southwest Valley. You are right on noting how difficult it can be to actually get any real results for the homeowner. Usually they are stuck with very little help.

You make really good points. I am happy to hear from someone on the inside talk about how no one is really looking out for buyer's interests. Rather, they all just want to get paid (by pushing the sales through), then the buyer has to deal with the nasty financial surprise.
