My bestfriend's husband is a big bass fisherman and goes to Pleasant and I think Canyon the most. Next time I talk to her I'll ask for sure.

There are many desert lakes surrounding Phoenix. The premier Bass lake is Alamo, but it is further away from Phoenix than most (2 or 3 hours, depending where you are in the valley). Good fishing can be found at all the lakes, though. If you want to find out where theyare biting, check the AZ Game and Fish weekly fishing report.

Lightbulb The Big Ones only minutes away from Sky Harbor!

All of the locations posted are good choices for fishing. One of the lakes that few if any know about was televised several months ago and is located in Phoenix. I don’t know if there is a name for it, and I believe it may be private and require permission or a fee to do any fishing there but if your wanting something close this is about as good as it can get.

Just south of the Sky Harbor Airport on the south side of the river is a small lake where fishing has been said to be great. Again,,,,, it may be private but it is where many professionals go that don’t want to spend long periods of driving to get to the lake.

I looked at google maps and clicked the satellite view of the airport, enlarged it and moved to the south side of the river. I could see the lake and continued to enlarge until I could see the road leading to it. Looks like you can get there from the east side of the lake by taking 37th street off of University Dr and going to the north end of 37th street, turn left onto the road going west to the lake. It appears to have a gate about a block east of the lake on the road, but I don’t know for sure. Also I can see a boat ramp on the east end of the lake. If anyone finds out more let me know. The televised news story about it made it sound like a great spot that was only minutes away for the guy who has to get fishing in and make it back to the office before the boss returns at the end of the day.

Considering it is privately owned my guess is that it is private property and off limits.
