A haboob is a type of intense sandstorm commonly observed in arid regions throughout the world. It sounds Middle Eastern because the word is Middle Eastern.

It looks something like this.

I'm glad it blew through! It reminded me of the beach sand storms we had when I lived in California.

This was an intense haboob job.

Lots of wind & dust, but no rain to speak of to wash it all away (at least here on the east side of Phoenix). Looks like the brunt of the storm has moved to the west. Meanwhile, those of us that didn't get any rain are stuck with dust covered driveways, patios, and breathing the residue from all this crap until we can get the power spray going.

We got the dust, the wind, and the rain. Now everything is covered in mud. It was fun while it lasted though!

The pool is a mess and the backyard one big mud pile. The pool vac has it's work cut out for it tonight and I will have my work cut out for me cleaning up in the morning. Too bad we didn't get much rain to wash it all off better. Definately one of the top 5 dust storms I have experienced
