Anyone know why they changed the peak hours with APS? I used to be on 9pm-9am, then we moved and they said that option was gone, so now we do 7pm-12pm. I didn't catch if the rates changed or not, but it seems to help my APS bill this month was only $78 and I use my AC most of the day.

But I doubt you have paid off the initial costs of the solar with your savings.

Good question. Although with the cash rebates (around $15,000) from the utility companies and the tax credits (a little over $60,000) a whole bunch was paid for from the get go. The rest? getting close.

When we first got APS we had a choice of the off peak hours we wanted, don't know if they still do that?

How many panels does it take to power your home? Seems like it would take amount?

I actually asked to switch from the 9 to 9 to the 7 to 12 because it fits our lifestyle more. Yes it is a little more expensive per kwh for on and off peak but so far the difference for us as far as I can tell is less than $5 more per month. So it was well worth it to me to have those 5 extra hours of off peak. I didn't know they stopped offering the 9 to 9 plan so I don't know why.

Does anyone use evaporative coolers (swamp coolers) ? I do (downdraft cooler) & my electric bill is cheaper in the summer then the winter. In the winter i use a electric quartz heater. I generally use my cooler from june/july through sept. I used it last yr (1st time ever) for 3 months (july-sept) & now its june 11th & my cooler hasnt been used so far this yr. We had a heat wave last week (upper 90s) & it was tough but i stuck it out. Next week temps are suppose to return to the horrid 90s here in so.ca/inland.
