the one at N 7th St and IS has shuttered. Any word on other Valley locations? I went to that one, once, and it was above average price and below average quality. There is a new Firehouse Subs at 28th St and IS.....seems kind of expensive in this economy.

I've seen firehouse popping up, but have never been

For Quiznos it's probably just that particular franchise owner

The one near my house shut down a couple years ago ..... about a month ago I drove by and saw that there was some tenant improvement work going on so I was curious about what would fill the space and was kind of excited as it's one less vacancy

Couple days later there was a grand opening of the brand new............... Quiznos

I'm guessing it's different ownership, but they are definitely active with their initial marketing, etc

Quiznos has closed over 30% of their outlets nationwide this year. There was talk of bankruptcy (it is privately held) earlier this year. They are having trouble with their higher priced subs in the recession, they say.

this one on 7th had been there for 10 years. The one time I went in, the sub roll was more like a hot dog bun. Subway has been fairly consistent in the 33 years that I have been a customer. About twenty years ago in Emeryville, CA, the Subway sold its tomatoes, cucumbers, and bell pepper like a produce stand. To this day, I haven't seen another sub place doing that, and very, very few other restaurants. Their produce supply was perfect. I generally do not like to spend more than 5 on fast food. 10 for lunch means a waiter/waitress like China Chili or the equivalent.

I haven't been in one for a long time, the closest one to my house went away awhile ago. Funny, there's a Jimmy John's now either in the same space or within a stone's throw. Their website still lists quite a few in the Valley, but not nearly as many as before-- closest one to the one in the OP is at 7th St and Roosevelt, which is a fairly new one.

It's hard to compete with Subways everywhere... Blimpie and Cousins are going away too. Subway has a good price, and they do have that consistency that keeps customers.

Jimmy Johns and Firehouse have much better quality meat, cheese and veggies than Subway. Hard to believe Subways survive with better quality choices around.

That location has been closed for several weeks. I have been going to the one at 7th Street and Roosevelt since it closed. It allows internet orders, which saves some time, so I don't miss the Indiian School location.

but they don't have the 5 Dollar Footlongs......More Subways than any other restaurant in the world. How about Little Caesar's with the 5 Dollar Large 'ronis? Seems to be about the most popular thing since the hulahoop. What a turnaround for a failing pizza company. Today's consume wants value..a large sub and a drink is 10 bucks at FH.

I wasn't that impressed with Jimmy Johns on my one visit..("free smells" ??? Not that much to smell in a sub shop) I haven't tried Firehouse. I'll give them both another try, but if I just want a quick lunch, Subway works fine for me-- not many places you can get spinach on a sub.

Best Sandwich is a matter of personal taste . . .

Subway may not offer the best sandwich, however, I firmly believe they offer the Best Value and the Healthiest options.
