This will be our family's first 4th of July celebration in the Phoenix area. My husband, myself and two teenagers (13 and 14) live southeast of the valley.

So, all you patriotic sorts.....what is your recommendation/opinion of the best place in Phoenix and outskirts to celebrate our nation's birthday?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Tempe has a Fourth event at Town Lake.

We will probably go to the party and fire works at Lake Pleasant. It's on the 3rd.

The Tempe Town Lake event is by far the largest celebration. July 4th Tempe Town Lake Festival

I enjoyed the events in Gilbert:

Fireworks in Gilbert - 4th of July Fire in the Sky Fireworks in Gilbert AZ

About.com: http://www.centralaz.com/Arena/default.aspx?page=4222&profileId=5206&occurrenceId =47885

Here are some other local events: 4th of July Fireworks and Festivals in Phoenix - Phoenix Fourth of July - July 4th Celebrations

It all depends on where you live and what you enjoy.

Last year, Steele Indian School Park had a fireworks show. We went to that without leaving our patio, so it worked well

They have one in Chandler as well. 4th of July Celebration
They have all day fun and then fireworks at night. It's free. It's at Tumbleweed Park around McQueen and Queen Creek.

If you're near San Tan Valley, Schnepf farms has a fun event beginning late afternoon that will be family friendly.

All of those options are great ideas. Tempe Town Lake is the biggest but might be overwhelming if you don't like crowds or have very little ones. Schnepf farms and the Indian School Park options sound great. I live up near Lake Pleasant so those things are a bit of a drive for me. Whatever you do, bring lots of water and stay cool!

This is my first 4th in 17 years where I will actually be out of Arizona. I'm going to enjoy the change and hope to see some fireworks over the ocean!

When I lived in Mesa and Tempe as a kid, my parents took me to the Tempe Town lake July 4th celebration, and it is one of my few, awesome, memories of Arizona I still have. I totally recommend it for families. I have not been back there since I moved to the west valley 4 years ago though...too long a drive, especially on a busy holiday. I might go to the July 3rd at Lake Pleasant too... depends if my husband is working or not.

The Tempe Town Lake is the best. They set them off over the Mill Ave bridge and watching them over the Town Lake is amazing. Reminds me when we went to San Diego one year and they set them off over a barge right off the beach.
