Hi! I am so excited to be purchasing a home and I want to find an amazing community for my 10-yr-old-son. We moved to AZ 3 years ago and live in Chandler. He has 9 friends in the development and the run around, play ball and go to the community pool every day. I want to purchase a home, but I want a wonderful community with lots of kids that play outside. I know that a lot of communities have amenities, but I know that doesn't mean the kids are playing outside. Can anyone recommend a community that has a lot of kids (especially boys ages 9 - 12) that play outside in Gilbert or Chandler?
Also - I am not as concerned about the schools as he attends a charter and we will be spending 250 - 300k.

Thanks!!!

There are quite a few playgrounds at Freeman Farms, and I see kids quite often. However, there is no community pool.

Are you Mormon? If you are, I think you will have a much easier time establishing play dates and meeting kids in Gilbert in any community. Otherwise, I would recommend staying in Chandler where it's more secular and less dominated by one faith.

In Chandler, check out the Desert Breeze train park or the baseball fields in South Tempe(basically Chandler) at Warner and Hardesty.

Why are you moving, if you like where you are?

That's a difficult question, as neighborhoods cycle through kids. It's very rare to see kids playing outside at this time of year. When it cools off, driving through neighborhoods in your price range, should be a good indicator. Also, there are typically more families with children living close to schools.

Good Luck!
