I wonder what my options are for winter housing (a short term ie. 3month lease) in an apartment in the PHX area. I would appreciate any good leads.

I don't know about apartments, but I'm sure it's probably the same as housing. There are many properties that are available for rent during the snow bird winter season. The rates, as you would guess, are about double the standard rate because they're vacant the rest of the year.
You can call almost any real estate office and they may have a property management department that handle all kinds of rentals and they can help you locate what you need. It doesn't cost you anything.
Just have a good idea of the general area and your criteria for the house or apartment, and the budget rent amount and they can help you find something very quickly.
