Sure, let's try to be more like Portland, the "top gainer" in the young/hip....ahhh....but then again:

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/09/21/ma...the-young.html

"Heartwarming planning, however, can only go so far. Portland’s paradox is that it attracts so many of “the young and the restless,” as demographers call them, that it has become a city of the overeducated and underemployed — a place where young people are, in many cases, forced into their semiretirement. A July report by the Oregon Employment Department fretted about the state’s low personal income and employment-to-population ratio. The average income of Oregonians in recent years “may have been a ‘victim’ of the state’s attractiveness, and a resulting population influx” by new residents who don’t earn much, the report said."

Be careful with stats as quantity doesn't = quality.

Young people are attracted to jobs and move where they'll find a paycheck. That's been proven solid. And quality of life factors. Most people I know in their 20's will live wherever they can land a good job. Politics means little to the vast majority of them and they are cynical about the whole political process as people like me are and the vast majority have no desire to vote. Here's the reality of it all:

‘Millennials’ cynical about politics, new Harvard poll of 18- to 29-year-olds finds - Metro - The Boston Globe

President Obama's approval rating with 20-somethings has gone up a bit - UPI.com

“It’s been clear for some time now that young people are growing more disillusioned and disconnected from Washington,” John Della Volpe, the institute's polling director, said. “There’s an erosion of trust in the individuals and institutions that make government work -- and now we see the lowest level of interest in any election we’ve measured since 2000. Young people still care about our country, but we will likely see more volunteerism than voting in 2014.

In light of this information, may I suggest you lighten up on statements like "Millennials are not attracted to Phoenix as they are to other western metros due to the political extremism here." as it makes no sense to a generation for the most part who's obviously sick of the entire political process, don't trust any of it, and means very little to them to want to be part of it. If anything, the poll ironically shows more young conservatives are likely to vote and would give an edge to the people you are obviously against in politics.

May I suggest you stick to the facts like jobs, quality of life factors, etc. in the Phoenix metro area that younger people want in a city and then we can have a meaningful dialog on the matter.
