I am fairly certain that a majority of people use some air-conditioning with highs in the 90s. Looking forward to installing my wi-fi thermostat so that I can game the noon-7 plan even more.

I haven't even considered it. Yesterday i turned one celing fan on in a somewhat stuffy room after I was already feeling fatigued being out and about all afternoon. I'm new to the south and in fascinated with this, I've turned the heat on a few nights last month. I've read elsewhere that a lot of people have used a/c for weeks. The house is at 75 right now, and now I'm wondering how much elevation, exposure, ceilings, and? Have to do with it being cool here.

Good the evap on and it's freezing in here. Won't need the a/c til the dew point gets in the 50's or above 110.

Our air conditioning has been on for quite some time, although our heat use over the winter was rather below normal.

I've been kicking on one of our zones for about an hour before bed to cool the side of the house our bedroom is on which gets blasted with sun all day. I was 80 in our bedroom before bed and no way I am sleeping that hot! Was cooking a lot yesterday with oven on and kicked the AC on for that as well.

We're still on "winter" power rates, so there's really no incentive to be a "tough guy" to save money.

If you're talking "on peak" / "summer" rates vs "off peak" / "winter" rates, you're comparing nickels to quarters (literally), and not very many of them.

In July, when running the a/c might cost $1.25 per hour of run-time, there's at least some incentive to spool back if you're worried about it. Off peak / winter, you might be looking at a quarter an hour (and its prolly not even gonna run for an hour anyway).

I feel like we have this thread every other week.

I don't quite understand the concept of waiting for a certain date to turn it on. Set it on whatever you set it, if it gets hotter than that and turns on, then it's time.

I mean really should it ever really be turned off? Set it to 78º for cool, 72º for heat or whatever and don't touch it all year.

I caved late in the afternoon yesterday and turned it on for the first time this spring. I barely needed to use the heat this winter.
