Sometimes, I find myself needing to travel one mile between freeway exits. There is an entrance lane at "Road A" to merge onto the freeway (but it physically doesn't force you to merge) that continues and at about a half mile down the road effectively starts to become an exit lane to exit onto "Road B." What is the correct/lawful way to handle driving between these two roads? Stay on the entrance/exit lane for the entire one mile or merge onto the freeway and then 5-10 seconds later exit the freeway again?

It does not make any sense to do anything other than staying in the lane given this situation. There's more risk involved merging twice in such a short distance.

I assume there's no frontage road on this particular freeway...

If not, I don't see a problem staying in that lane...

Stay in the auxiliary (merge) lane. There is no reason to move out of the auxiliary lane just to move back in it 5 seconds later. The lanes are there for people who are entering and existing the freeway. Since you're doing both, I would say that you have good reason to stay in that lane.

and I assume you are using your right turn signal soon after reaching the actual freeway part so people know your intentions.....right??!!

I'd stay on the frontage road if there is one.
