I used to work at Shea & 96th St and javelina were a regular sight. On a few occasions I had to scare them off when hovering near the entrance so a frightened woman could leave work. I never had any issues of danger with them. They always ran off. I've been told that they're not overly aggressive unless cornered or with young. A post above suggests otherwise. I am not a wildlife expert.

Par for the course in the area. Might even see bobcat.

Excellent post from someone with so little forum experience.... Sorry still not over that one LOL

I spotted a coyote heading into work at about 3:30 am a few months back right off Broadway/101. They can be anywhere in the city.

I LOVE seeing bobcats... Two bad I've only seen two, at the same time.

I appreciate the replies. We've been in AZ for a couple years and this is the first time I've seen javelinas. I never even saw them in N. Scottsdale, and we stayed north of Dynamite. I did see coyotes there, walking around in the daytime, but they kept their distance. In fact, they seemed more scared of people than these javelinas are.

I'm trying to find reviews on those "mountain lion pee" products, but I can't find much information. If anybody knows, let me know. Two of the residents here walk around with a bright flashlight at night. One lady said the javelinas are afraid of the bright light and they can't see very well, so the light scares them.

Thanks and have a great day.

I must admit I'm surprised you never saw them up there...

I've seen packs roaming from yard to yard nonchalantly at my parents' place near Scottsdale and Jomax.
