Even if he is forced to resign, he is still costing county taxpayers millions of dollars with all his legal issues.
Right. I'll believe he will be brought to justice when I see him frog-marched into a Federal prison. Until then, he's sitting pretty, well-to-do, surrounded by the posse who adores him. Even if he loses his next election, is forced to resign, or is impeached against his will, it will not undo the damage he has done to the taxpayers or to the reputation of Maricopa County.

Yes, he has SOME people all over the country who agree with his positions and his methods, but they obviously haven't read the Constitution lately or fail to comprehend what they read.

What exactly did he do that is unconstitutional? « serious question, as I'm unfamiliar with the issues at this time.

Arpaio has been in office way too long. No one should serve that length of time. When they do, cronyism , favoritism, indifference, and incompetence all rise. The house needs to be cleaned now and then and this is certainly a great time to do that. Arpaio is not the only person who can do his job. There are qualified men running in both parties this year.

It certainly would be nice if people came to their senses and elected someone else. It's not a political thing for me, whether it is a Democrat or Republican we just need someone new.

Don't care which way a potential sheriff leans politically since it's a law enforcement job rather than a law making job. It's simple - read what's on the books, and make sure it's enforced. The end. As long as they do their job as outlined in the description, keep to their jurisdiction stay within their scope of powers and abilities, it doesn't matter much to me who's in there. Do your f***ing job and stop being a crusader. You want to make up new laws, be a politician.

There are a couple of issues but the oft most cited and litigated issue is racial profiling in violation of the 14th Amendment guarantee to due process. Meaning the assumption that Hispanics are guilty by being Hispanic.

Most sub issues stem from the above, the above is the broad issue.

Given most of the illegal entry into our state will be hispanics just based on our proximity to the Mexican border/Central american gateway bordering our state, it would appear the vast majority of those arrested and/or questioned coming over the border/questioned in Maricopa county for such matters would be hispanic. Quite a hard thing to prove one is "racial profiling" given this reality I would think.

I think the issue is the methods employed not the results.

since I haven't followed any specific case, I guess I can't argue... however, everything I've understood has to do with illegal immigration (the Constitution has no provision for that)...

Again, I haven't followed specific cases... and contrary to some of the posts in this thread, the rest of the country doesn't see headline news about Arpaio (not CA anyway).

As to "profiling" in general... that's a whole topic in and of itself and doesn't start or end with Arpaio or Hispanics - it's everywhere and includes multiple ethnicity (yes even the dreaded, evil white male)... so that's moot as far as I'm concerned.
