We're getting ready to head into Arizona and hope to find a peaceful homelife in Florence! Our two children are 12 and 15 very atheletic and enjoy the outdoors. Any real estate left where there isn't 'cookie-cutter' type homes available? Love Arizona and hope our plans to relocate into Florence is the 'move' we have been hoping for! Familiar with Arizona from years past but look forward to becoming part of the community in Florence. Any info you wish to exchange would be helpful. |

Kind of like Perryville State Prison and Goodyear?
Florence has annexed a lot of territory. It's possible to live in Florence and be miles away from ASP. There are several other facilities there besides ASP: The private prison run by CCA (housing felons from other states), the INS detention center, and the Pinal County Jail. There are some decent areas to live down there, but there are some bad ones too. Such as anywhere near downtown Florence and downtown Coolidge . If your kids are very athletic as in TEAM SPORTS, I'd look elsewhere for that reason alone. Otherwise, you may like it. I can't help you much with the real estate, sorry. The only neighborhoods I know anything about are downtown and Anthem at Merrill Ranch. But you might want to ask about the area west of Central Arizona College. I know there are quite a few large lots, possibly an acre or more in that area. I think that would put you in Casa Grande's school district. If you have Google Earth, enter 32°57'10.03"N, 111°39'11.07"W and you'll be at the entrance to CAC. Look to the west of there, then north and south of West Woodruff Road to see the properties I'm talking about. |

Hi Arlene
There is an abundance of non-cookie cutter places in the area if you know where to look. Often they are a bit tucked away It kind of depends on how far you want to drive, and how much you want to spend. There are custom ranch houses, luxury homes, golf course homes, horse properties, older properties...The best news is that even some of the upper end homes out here now are responding to the slow market and there are some excellent deals out here. Views of the mountains / sunsets, the standard AZ desert stuff all included ;-) Please feel free to send me a PM if you would like more info on the area.
