SO I'm going to get a job first, and then find an apartment. I think we'll have the movers put our things into storage and stay at a hotel for a week or two until we can find a place. In that meantime, or before we move, I'm putting my resume out there to multiple temp agencies as ell as directly to places on indeed to see what I can find. I think that might be a good idea, what do you think?

Just my opinion, but I am reading many more posts on here that have people from out of state being hired for a job here. Wonder if employers are unable to find qualified people already in Phoenix or what? This is a change from years ago, when you had to live here to even be considered.

Build it and they will come. LOL

I'm actually in a similar situation now. I've been wanting to move to Arizona for a while and have been to the Phoenix area a few times. My job contract in NYC just ended so I will being doing the same. As mentioned by some posters, temp agencies may be the way to go. I'm also seeing a lot of apartment buildings offering 3/6/9 month leases. I will follow this thread and update on my progress as well. I work in marketing/communications (writing), so I'm focusing on Scottsdale/Chandler/Gilbert. I think it's mainly a numbers game. I'm going to put a lot of energy in contacting every employment agency and trying to connect with headhunters on Linkedin. I don't think giving a fake Arizona address is the way to go. It's much easier to just say the truth. Many people value it and I think eventually you will find a position before moving. It's always a gamble because the position might not be a good fit...but I don't think there's any other way.

We'e gone "sight unseen" twice now, and one job was a transfer, which it wouldn't be if we moved to Phoenix. So how do you find a job before moving? I'd like to save up so that for a few months we'd be ok, but really need jobs. I'm in the medical billing industry and my gf is in the laboratory specimen processing industry.

Any tips??
