It's a near monopoly in Florida. Where I was there was only Publix, one or two Winn Dixies, Costco, and Walmart. Not that it's bad though, Publix is pretty good. The Pub subs are pretty good, but they don't have a membership program like Frys so I prefer Fry's. But that's the only reason.

Not a big fan of Florida no offense but it is my least favorite state. Arizona destroys Florida in every aspect or metric you win with Arizona. Florida is only good for a short vacation and winter weather that is it. Arizona culture destroys Florida culture of snowboards and internationals that do not get along with Americans. Arizona people are way more outgoing as well and laid back.

I'm a big fan of the Fry's at 20th St and Highland, going there this afternoon to do weekly shopping, but I liked Publix better from what I saw of it. Maybe the grass is always greener... AJ's is not a good comparison due to their limited product offerings. I go there fairly frequently but don't think I could do a full weekly shopping visit there. Wegman's, if you ever been to one, has them all beat.

I do like the beach and could spend a day sitting by it BUT gimme the Grand canyon or Sedona. Absolutely stunning and diverse topography that Florida, and much of the South cannot even come close to. I'm cool with 3 hr or 6 hr drive to the beach. Hiking in AZ > Running on the beach in FL

I know its 2019, but maybe you haven't been to the smoky mountain area , yea it's green everywhere but it provides shade, way more water sources, and more beautiful overall .

I grew up near the Gulf in New Orleans and I hate the humidity and just don't enjoy anything about it. I would rather 110F and dry over 80F and humid. I also prefer mountains over beaches. Finally, Arizona is far less likely to experience a terrible natural disaster as Florida is. I did like to go swimming in the gulf in the summer but that no longer appeals to me....Arizona easily wins it for me.

I've lived in both states...what's a nice way to put this? There's a reason Carl Hiassen, Dave Barry and Tim Dorsey's books are always based in FL. They're writing about a subsection of the FL population that's not overly bright. Those people exist, I swear some of those characters were based on coworkers and neighbors I knew in FL. You won't see as many of those folks here in AZ. (We have some, just not as many.)

Arizona.
No real threat hurricanes or major disasters to speak of. Just scorching hot, but hey, there’s always Flagstaff.
More interesting part of the country to boot.
