With the Uber cab service, I do not tip. However, I think it is a little different with food delivery services. I really wish the Uber Eats app had a tip line because I would like to tip.

Surprisingly, I was reading that most people who use Uber Eats do NOT tip just like their ride service. I have a hard time believing this. If you use this service, do you tip?

For those of you living here, do you tip your driver for Uber Eats?

I've used the service three times and have tipped cash each time out of principle.

I usually do not tip for rides but always give a cash tip for Uber Eats. I'm really not sure why, but it seems extra awkward for someone to hand you a bag of food at your front door without getting something in return.

Agreed, I just learned that post mates allows you to tip with the app which is nice because then you don't have to carry cash.

Here's how they word it on the FAQ:

https://about.ubereats.com/en/phoenix/faq/

Quote:
"Do I need to tip my courier?

Tips aren't included and they aren't expected or required. You can always rate your experience after you order."
Kind of vague to say the least. I understand the not "required" but "aren't expected"? "Rate your experience after you order"? "Rate" via what method?

I used it for the first time a couple of days ago and wondered the same thing. Ended up giving the guy a tip. Amazon automatically includes a tip, which I think you can modify, and doesn't have a service charge.

You can't in the Uber app. One of the drivers told me that but said I could in post mates. He drives for both services.

If you don't tip your driver, you are an a-hole.

If you don't tip your delivery driver, you are an even bigger a-hole.

And the rate system works both ways. You can rate the driver just like the driver can rate the passenger. Eventually your cheap ass will have enough of a low rating that no driver will want to ever pick you up or take you food.

Seriously, if you tip your waitress but don't tip your driver then just make it fair and don't tip anyone. Why should you give a tip to one and not the other?
