Hello!
I am relocating to the area next spring. I have 3 children who will be in 10th grade, 8th grade and 5th grade. I have one child with an IEP for a learning disability and 2 who are classified gifted. I am wanting opinions on the different school districts. We come from a district in Pennsylvania that has 1:1 technology for all students. My children do all work on chrome books(no paper text books). The class sizes are 25 students. Math and science has reverse classrooms where lecture is done on chrome book for homework and then the actual lab or math work is done together in class. I am looking for all similar qualities. Hoping for a smaller high school @ under 2000 students. Thinking that Higley may fit more of my "list" but I really would like to hear from parents who are there or have been there. I also know that Chandler has an excellent reputation. We are not particularly religious and I keep reading about religion being involved...I'm good with most of the values etc but obviously do not want that to affect my children's ability to develop meaningful friendships.

Have been considering
Higley
Chandler
Gilbert
in that order....but open to ALL suggestions.

PLEASE HELP ME! LOL...all thoughts and advice are welcome!!

Thank you!!!

No public High School is going to have what you are looking for. May want to start looking at Charters.

Higley: 1600+ students // 5,608th National Ranking // 24:1
Chandler: 3100+ students // 1,908th National Ranking // 21:1
Gilbert: 2400+ students // 2,434th National Ranking // 21:1

Don't move here for the schools...and the Student Teacher ratios are often misrepresented. Not to say your kids can't get a quality education...but that is really going to depend on your involvement and the number of Honors/AP/IB classes your kids take.

AZ schools don't have the funding to do most anything with technology (to my knowledge) although our High School student's homework is mostly on the computer via turnitin.com and some other paperless assignments. They still have books, most schools have done away with lockers though so you either carry them around (middle school) or leave them in class (High School). The books are available online but it is up to you to provide the access method.

Also...not sure what you heard about "religion" being involved, but in public schools that is not a "thing". Sure, there are student groups based on religious beliefs but academically, the curriculum is decidedly secular.

Religion plays in only in developing friendships, both in the neighborhood and at school. Some have reported issues with children and teens making/keeping friendships in areas of Gilbert with high LDS concentrations. I don't know much about Higley, but I suspect Chandler likely presents the least likelihood of issues of that nature.

I guess that is kind of going to be subjective...probably because most LDS families have more kids? Even on C-Ds demographic breakdown LDS doesn't even rate a category? Not saying it isn't present but Moderator cut: link removed, competitor site
, you are twice as likely to run into a Catholic than you are a member of the LDS Church (of the 39.8% people that are religious in Gilbert, 6.5% are LDS vs. 14.2% Catholic). Maybe because LDS kids/families are more noticeable??
