Moving to Phoenix after a project at work wraps up this summer. I have family in Phoenix and have visited before, but never lived there myself.

I'm an early-30s single male. Degreed professional in the tech industry. Center-left politically. Catholic. Like to go out most nights; bars and live music whenever possible are my thing. Planning to rent for my first year there.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what neighborhoods might be a good fit? Phoenix is so massive that the choice is not obvious! Thanks!

Read the welcome to Phoenix thread and try to soak in as much as possible. Ideally you'd want to be in Central Phoenix or Tempe to easily get to whatever place of work is needed. Tempe / Scottsdale are the most socially active places for single people.

The suburbs are great for families and those looking to get away from the busy city life. Lots of great options in Phoenix and you'll just have to figure out where work is going to be, and how far / close you want to be relative to work.

Start with where you work and go out 20-30 minutes from there.

Second this.

Best to live close to work and avoid the rush hour traffic.

I hear Tempe is the place to be if young and single.

However, if you don't work in Tempe... take Uber.

Downtown Phoenix, or Old Town Scottsdale over Tempe IMO. Downtown would be the best option given the limited information provided depending on where you work.
