- and, god knows there are enough of them fleeing from all over - I discovered this place:

Gathering Humanity
https://gatheringhumanity.org

They're an all-volunteer group based in metro-Phoenix, specializing in re-settling refugees. I originally called them because I had a friend leaving town who was looking for places to usefully donate her furniture, but they are also happy to get various household items - and volunteers.

It would be a great place to support...unless...unless they are categorizing illegal immigrants as 'refugees'...? Do you know?

I guarantee you these kinds of organizations aren't making people show their legitimacy for needing help. If it will bother you should keep all your extras to yourself.

When my mother passed away I cleaned out the house and wanted to give away her bed and furniture instead of tossing them out. I can't remember the organization I called but an African family that recently arrived in America came by for the bed and several pieces of furniture. Anything that was left I gave to Goodwill.

Catholic Services handled the refugees in my complex. There were no Mexicans, but I recall reading about some of them seeking refugee status from the narco war. One of the Cubans who walked from Panama to Nogales just bought a house in Vegas, where he moved to, for a union job. He encountered a Tiger in Guatemala...

It would be great if homeless veterans got this same sort of treatment.

Are you unaware that there are also resources for homeless veterans or are you simply upset that refugees have access to assistance? Hmm…

Arizona has maybe the best veterans housing assistance in America. I'm a member of the American Legion in downtown Phoenix and I've seen it with my own eyes. Refugees from foreign wars have absolutely nothing to do with the V.A. or vets being on the street, but it's a popular thing to say. Blame the poor and destitute for our governments failings.

Are you aware that refugees are assisted by many international groups or are you simply upset that some people would like to help folks that served their nation and have access to assistance? Hmm..........

What exactly are you complaining about? Helping refugees, as is the topic of this thread, in no way hinders homeless veterans' access to assistance. Not everything is mutually exclusive (nor on-topic)!
