Somehow I knew this thread would evolve into the usual "people drive too fast here" complaint. I don't advocate reckless driving or excessive speeding at all ... however, there are reasons why Phoenicians tend to drive fast: the layout of our streets/freeways, and the weather/climate. Wide roads and clear weather offer greater visibility, which makes it safer to go faster (taking into consideration the traffic & road conditions). The slower, inattentive driver is most often the hazard.
There is a huge difference between driving fast and driving wreckless. I drive fast, but I don't endanger other peoples lives by taking stupid chances.

The motorcycle might have been going fast, but at least the driver was attentive. That's more than we can say for the inattentive idiot who turned in front of him at a very slow pace, risking a serious collision.

Absolutely. That's why turning directly in front of oncoming traffic is extremely risky & stupid, and it's also a form of reckless driving. Recklessness doesn't always mean excessive speeding.

Default Create a sticky topic for traffic.

It sure does happen a lot, I was turning left into a parking lot yesterday and a SUV pulled out and almost hit my car. Lucky I saw him and stopped in time. I could have cussed him out and blasted the horn but what good would that do?

There ought to be a sticky in this forum reserved for Phoenix traffic. If not, maybe a website to post traffic incidents, description of the vehicle and license plate number. Even better if the police had a site like that.
