My goto spot for the past 5 years or so has been Rodibertos in Central Phoenix but found out the other day they closed down. They had some of the best Carne Asada fries you could get enough for two people and the quality of the food was on point always a good meal.

I do get filbertos from time to time but the last few times the food was awful and I stopped ordering from them.

Several of those taco trucks serve up some amazing Mexican food.

My go-to is https://maskadorestacoshops.com/locations/. Each shop is independently owned. I always order the wet burrito. I've tried all of the meats and the Chipotle Chicken is the one. I have it stuffed with extra beans and nearly all of the fixings. An important adder is the guacamole and especially the jalapeno cream cheese! I'm a fan of their red sauce but you can ask them to split it with their green (1/2 side of each). The wet burrito is enough food for two people and it costs around $12. Give it a try. If you don't like it, you didn't listen or you have defective taste buds.

If you are on the west side, go to Rio Mirage Cafe in El Mirage https://riomiragecafe.com/ . Don't bother with their Surprise location. No matter what you order, make sure you try a fresh flower tortilla. It smells amazing! Also, don't order their margaritas as they are terrible.

El Zaguan on Adams Street downtown

Taco Boys and Taco Chelo on Roosevelt Row

Tacos Calafia
on 7th Street

El Norteno on 7th Avenue

And I agree completely with the recommendation of Maskadores. Their most central location is on Thomas in Midtown.

Not sure if you have Someburros or Los Favoritos Taco shop nearby or if they're just an East Valley thing, but both are substantially better than any of the 'Bertos chains for "fast" Mexican food IMO. They aren't on par with the best authentic sit down places but they work for us 90% of the time. Someburros has drive thru's and Los Favs does not but they take phone orders.

While we are on the subject, I was in Nashville recently and visited Miranda Lambert's Mexican restaurant on Broadway. While there I experienced the best darn taco I've ever eaten. It was called a Tacodilla. It was essentially braised short rib and you dipped it in an aus jus. I'm still dreaming about it - it was that good.

Is this a common thing and I just didn't know about it? Anyone know of a place (preferably east side) that serves this?
