So I'll be in PHX on Sunday and I still need to rent a car for a week. My favorite is Enterprise, but they are about $400 for standard (same as Hertz). I have rented before from Payless and never will again. Do any of you have opinions on Budget or Dollar or anyone else? Thanks in advance.

I thought Enterprise had a weekly special that was under $200?

Where are you picking up?

If you are picking up at Sky Harbor - then you will pay higher taxes at either Hertz or ERAC.

However, if you decide to pick up off-airport...

You will save money renting through Hertz - especially if you call and secure a low rate then reveal your association that may yield even more dollars off!

AAA or AARP, etc. Hertz will need a CDP number or they can do a alpha-search for that corresponding CDP to save you the maximum dollars!

I once used fox rent a car. Their facility is a dump but they run shuttle services from the airport, had low prices and nice cars. I rented a jeep wrangler for less than a chevy aveo through the bigger companies.

From what I could tell, when they put all the taxes in, it ends up being just under $400.

Is Advantage good?

I was planning on picking up at the airport. I thought the extra charge was only about 20 bucks (but I could be wrong).

I do have the Entertainment Book and AAA. Also, I have a Costco membership. Any further suggestions. Thanks again.

Yup, I agree.

Last time I was in Phoenix, I used Fox, and they upgraded me to a Jeep Wrangler with unlimited miles for the same price as an economy car. So overall, not bad I thought.

Well prices ended up dropping back down for Enterprise on Expedia, so I booked one for $235 for eight days (was just under $400 when I first posted). Thanks everyone for your help.

I've truly never been as pleased with Hertz as with Dollar or Alamo, which are almost always cheaper. I think Hertz is as much as a status thing for some people as it is for service. Most people I know from work absolutely insist upon Hertz, yet I usually end up as happy shopping for value (and my boss is okay with that). I've also used Avis recently and was quite pleased. Budget is usually alright, although I've never appreciated the personal questions that they ask in a busy airport to verify identity. Whichever one you use, be sure to get FF miles with your favorite airline.
