completely different styles - all up i'll take in-n-out ........ however, if i want some cheese curds and a malt (which i do, a lot) then it's completely culvers

in-n-out fries took a while to grow on me - but i dig them now

culvers was probably my favorite while in mpls though

I have only been to In and Out but looking at the Culvers site makes me want to try them out. I never have liked In n Out's fries and only go for the burgers and shakes. (Did you know you can ask for a quad at In and Out? Infact I think they will build you a 5x5 if you ask, 5 paties and 5 cheese slices.) I am a fan of a good tasty bun and the culvers site looks like they may have something for me. Kind of why I am not a fan of McDonalds, the entire burger is kind of soggy to me. Might as well drink it down then eat it. Give me a place with a well cooked patty and a tasty bun and I will be there.

After looking at Culvers extensive menu, I don't think you can really compare the two places. It's like comparing Red Lobster to Long John Silvers. For a fast food place, In and Out has the freshest french fries and tastiest hamburgers in town. Prices are good also. I don't know if I would call Culvers a fast food restaurant.

If Culvers isn't fast food then KFC isn't either. They're both FF, IMO. With that reasoning, how can you compare In-N-Out to ANY place. You can't compare I-N-O to McDonald's or Burger King because they have extensive menus? There has to be a standard to hold it to. What I was getting at was their burger, fries and shake vs. their burger, fries and shake.

I've never been a fan of InNOut ever. I think their food is not good at all. I'd take McDonald's or Wendy's or Burger King any day. I've never tried Culver's and probably never will since I don't eat fast food anymore and I'm a vegetarian.

In-N-Out has a good burger, but Culvers is way more. It gets my vote.

I vote "Someplace Else."

Culver's is established in other markets but is brand new here. With only two places, both infants, you can't have an honest poll. It barely qualifies as a chain (more than one place?) and even then is barely known, outside of transplants.

I&O is decent, though not as worthy as the hype. I'd be just as happy with a Fatburger or Carl's $6 restaurant burger ($3).

But why the heck are we talking national fast food burgers when there are certainly good local purveyors... Delux, Chuck Box, the Big Ass burger at Roaring Fork, etc?
