In the Denver area forum, some of the residents claim that the -19F below zero temps & -35F below zero wind chills that were recorded last night were not true and not really that bad.

The defense was that:

A - The cold was a "dry cold" (funny thing is that they make fun of us when we tell them it was a "dry heat" but they have invented a "dry cold").
B - NOAA and the weather service use DIA (the airport) to record the data. They stated that DIA is 14 miles away from the center of Denver and that it does not accurately portray the temps in downtown Denver, next to the steam coming from the sewer manhole cover, which is next to the pizza shop, that is next to the heat lamp. They claim that their Wal-Mart thermometers in their backyard, next to their kitchen window only read -7F below zero.

I really think the cold has affected their brain functions. Or they are in denial that Denver can be a frozen and arctic wasteland in the winter.

Yeah, I don't it's that bad. However, I walk to work in those temps almost daily. I prefer the extreme cold over extreme heat, though. One reason I left 'Zona for NoDak.

Can anyone here in the Phoenix forum enlighten me as to why your friend LBear is stuck on Denver winter? It doesn't matter what happens, it could be too hot, too cold, too stormy, too snowy or too windy and he goes out of his way to proclaim it to the world, as if we don't know how to look at the weather report. And why is this even a topic in Phoenix?

Actually it did get to -10F last night (felt like -22F according to weather.com) in downtown Denver. I'm not sure if a dry cold or a wet cold really matters once it's below freezing as most moisture freezes, in short it was darn cold! The only thing is in Denver, in a week or two it'll get up to 60F, certainly different from that of the arctic.

Not crazy. I will take 110 and sun all summer long over 50 and rain.

19 degrees means you are just stupid if you are still there.
