Hi all - I asked this in the middle of another thread and did not get any replies, so I am hoping that by starting a new thread I can get some insightful information. I think that the community I live in way overpays for water. We have a private water submetering company that supplies the water to our community. I'm hoping that if I can get enough data points I can take the information to our board and try to get the company changed (may be very lofty goal, but you gotta start somewhere).

So, here is what I'm looking for:

1. Amount paid (indicate if for a month, 2 months, quarter, etc)
2. Number of gallons
3. Name of company that supplies the water

THANK YOU so much in advance for your help. I appreciate any feedback I can get.

You probably live on the outer edge of the valley and have discovered the wonderful world of private water companies! Unfortunately, they are not regulated well, and can get away with treating their customers like crap (cough, cough, Global Water in Maricopa). Hopefully, they will get bought out by SRP, or perhaps absorbed into your local municipality system some day.

Unfortunately, you probably don't have any choice in which company supplies your water/sewage, aside from drilling your own well.

Actually, I live in South Phoenix near South Mountain, not the outter edge of the valley. I have no idea why our HOA has gone with a private water company instead of SRP or the City of Phoenix or something.

My water bill for the last 19 years has been between $12-14 a month (including all the taxes and the sewer fee) from the city of Phoenix. What amazes me is that at times my household has been any where from 1 adult to as many as 4 adults and an infant and it was still the same.

Find out if any the homes nearby that are not part of your HOA get Phoenix or SRP water and if they don't either, it sounds like Master Shake is right.

How the heck is it so cheap?

As you can see in our bill, the garbage fee alone is $25 and the sewer fee another $23!
