Does anyone in the Phoenix metro area know anything about these insurance plans?

Medical Plans
  • EPO Plans (any one of these EPO plans is about $90 per month)
    • Aetna Select Open Access
    • Ameriben
    • Cigna Open Access Plus Only
    • United Healthcare Select
  • PPO Plans (any one of these PPO plans is about $300 per month)
    • Aetna Choice II Open Access
    • Ameriben
    • United Healthcare Options
  • HSA Option (this option seems to be about an additional $80 per month)
    • Aetna Choice POS II
Dental Plans
  • Delta Dental (this one is about $60 per month)
  • Total Dental Administrators (this one is about $10 per month)
Vision Plans
  • Avesis Advantage (this one is about $15 per month)
  • Avesis Discount Program (this one seems to be no cost)
Is there anyone out there that has one of these plans, or works with insurance, and can share some information?

We are thinking of getting one of the EPO plans and foregoing the HSA option. We like the in/out network choice that is allowed by a PPO plan, but it is more costly and has a lifetime maximum of two million. The EPO has no lifetime maximum, which appeals to us given our current age. We are not sure what EPO medical plan is best, and we are also unsure about what dental and vision plans to select.

We have been trying to read through the various plans, but they are umpteen pages long, and after about the first fifty pages, brain fog sets in and numb mind occurs, so if anyone has any insight to share, please do. Thanks.

I have a Aetna HSA plan, my company contributes $250 every quarter, my deductable is $3000. I only go to the doctor once a year for preventative/check ups, so it works out for me, but don't do this if you visit the doctor a lot.

Anything preventative is covered, my fiance just got back from the OBGYN for the yearly woman checkup, and it was covered, no co pay, nothing.

We just went through open enrollment with the State. I had been on a PPO plan for years, but with big changes and higher costs for that this year, opted for the EPO plan with BCBS/Ameriben. Others in my office who have been on the EPO type plans say it has served them well, the network is very large, all the doctors I have already been seeing are on it. So, I think this will work. And, I am actually going to be paying over 100 a month LESS than before. One way to get a raise....

I forgot to add, to cover myself and my fiance (considered a domestic partnership) it's about $140/month.

I have had Avesis thru the state and have used it maybe once every couple years. It pays some for glasses, and exams but for the most part, I pay the majority. I have had Delta Dental for the past 9 years again as a state employee, but now they have raised their rates and I had to switch to the other one (administrators something). I loved Delta. Now I have to find a new dentist also. Mine won't take the new insurance.

I buy my own insurance (disability income, health, dental). I buy my health and dental insurance through Health Insurance - Affordable Health Insurance Quotes, Individual Health Insurance and it provides a lot of companies to choose the best plan at the best price for you.

My health insurance is $139 per month. I'm 50, not obese, a non-smoker, and mine is a $5,000 deductible. I think I can do better $110 per month or so. But I haven't checked up on the competition yet. This particular company I go with started out at $102 per month. I love my insurance plans. Last time I checked, I have no preexisting conditions because I am very health-conscious. I'm closer to Jack LaLanne than to Michael Moore, for example! LOL
