No big deal really. Unless they do all advertising shots in house, you should expect whatever ad company they farmed out the photo shoot to, to use the equipment they are set up with. Most generally that will be either Nikon or Canon as few large commercial ad companies will use other than those two brands.
sony's market is really geared only for consumers not pro's
For the most part I would agree. I do however think that they are smart enough to know that established Pro's are not going to switch brands, but they are going after those who are just turning pro, or those Pro's who really are looking to change brands. It would be fool hardy for any company (no matter how good the product line), to try and convince 70-75% of all photographers to dump their old equipment and have to buy everything new again.
I agree that their market is mostly geared toward the Consumer/Prosumer. That isn't to say that their equipment is in any way less capable than either Nikon or Canon though. Even some Nikon pros are touting how the Carl Zess Lenses that are for the Sony line are some of the best glass EVER made, regardless of what brand they are put up against. That is saying a LOT IMHO because Nikon has been putting out some of the very best lenses for decades.
even for those turning pro sony is not supportive enough..not in breadth of product, not in knowledeable support people, not for the ability to turn around repairs on an emergency basis and not in resale value on their lenses even though they are zess made... ...
sony makes a good to excellent camera but they lack the infrastructure for the pro market and have no real desire to go head to head with the big 2 in that area... .

..yet.
A lot of people seem to forget that as far as DSLRs go, Sony is a very new company, their market percentage is very impressive taken their time in the business into consideration.
They are in fact developing a professional range, but they're making sure they time it right, because as you say, the infrastructure has to be in place, and as of yet, they're not quite there., I have no doubt however, that Sony will continue to grow at a higher rate than the competition, and that their Pro market products will be extremely capable once released, nothing indicates otherwise.
with sonys lack of follow thru in most things they dabble in that isnt their core business i would be very surprised to see them gain market share in the pro end...its just not how sony goes go to market...
they just seem to have great inventions , sell what they can, then when someone else does it better they fade further and further away until they get out of that business..
