these were done merging 3 exposures into one photo . the lighting that day exceeded the dynamic range of all our cameras. skys were either blown out to white or dark areas were black . the merging of the exposures kept it all . unlike hdr detail enhancer in photomatix these are more natural, cleaner and without the annoying halos.
i shot raw,,, used nikon capture nx2 to convert to tiffs. used photomatix to merge exposures as i controlled weighting of which photos to give more weight to the darker ones or lighter ones.
saved as tiff and brought back into nx2 for usual editing. just levels and curves , sharpening added.

saved from tiff to jpeg at this point.
Cool,
This is one of the best uses of Photomatrix I have seen. Many times the images look fake because it is so easy to overdo it. One of the keys to not going overboard is to make sure shadows still look like shadows even if you give them detail. And I think you have done that here for the most part. Nice job.
thanks.... the exposure fusion dosnt work for all conditions. sometimes i find its way to flat looking and no matter how i attemt to liven it up in PP i just cant......
