What about those promotions they run at steelers games where if X player scores in the 1st half your ticket is good for a free frosty or something???

Does that count?

If people want to waste thier money on gambling, fine. My problem is that the people who are so adament against gambling aren't making a big stink about the lottery or bingo halls.

The opening day for table games may have been a hit, but what about in coming weeks? The same was said that the Rivers Casino weas a hit on opening day, but after that, people weren't coming in droves as expected.

Absolutely--the real question is what things look like in a few weeks/months.

Oh, and I also agree the lottery is just as bad, or worse, as any other form of gambling.

Edit: that said, it looks like things are still going strong:

Which doesn't mean they couldn't be disappointed down the road, just that so far things seem to be going as well or better than planned.

Yeah... not too excited as the son of a problem gambler... I understand how this is just entertainment and fun for most patrons, but for my father it's a costly addiction... he thinks he can come out a winner and has spent all he has ever earned on it as well as other member's of my families money on it and there is nothing to show for it.

Probably because scratch-off and number games players spend a lot less money than their casino going counterparts.

Was the parking garage full last night? I'm guessing it was...I thought about going but didn't. I wonder how many people got mugged last night walking to there car from the casino.

Not always true. I have been in line at the service desk at Giant Eagle and had to wait in line until the old ladies were finished buying $40 worth of tickets for the televised drawings. My grandmother used to ask everyone in our family to play her numbers until her health failed, then we had to put a stop to it.

Just an aside, but to my knowledge the only theft problem at Rivers as been people snatching stuff inside the casino (e.g., from distracted/careless patrons).
