Not about something particularly strange, just its very existence is strange:

Not showing Obama's speech wrong, Mars Area resident says

A school district with 3000+ students has one parent show up to complain because she feels Obama isn't being sufficiently honored... and that's a newsworthy story? So bizarre. It's not even a report on the board meeting in which she just happens to devote a lot of space to the disgrunted woman -- she discusses nothing else but this one woman! They're really stretching to try to pad that "Suburban Living" section, eh?

I don't think it's all that shocking considering that the Post Gazette is a very liberal newspaper. I stopped reading it because they are so far left that the stories seemed biased to me. Pretty far reaching article though- they must had to really dig for that one!

Why would they show a speech that was televised the night before?

Obama+controversy=sales. Not really that hard to understand why they would offer this article.

If something can only turn out one opponent, it is uncontroversial.

You are talking about real world controversial, among people actually affected. In media/political world controversial, it doesn't matter whether there is a real world controversy (see, e.g., the whole controversy over the mosque in lower Manhattan, which was utterly uncontroversal locally, but became a huge frou-frou nationally--and sold a lot of ads on media outlets along the way).

Please stay on topic. A review of the terms of service for this site might be helpful:

There is a politics site http://www.city-data.com/forum/polit...controversies/ where posters can talk about political figures. This is not that place.

People who think the P-G is "far left" are possibly mentally ill.

The P-G does have a liberal slant (quite obvious during election season) but to call it far left just means you're that far right. And about the comment that the Islamic Center and Mosque near Ground Zero isn't controversial locally, 60% of NYers I belive I saw the other day are against the project.
