Hyatt and Omni are two of the three entities working on possible proposals. The third is current unnamed:

Hyatt, Omni eye hotel project

This would be a 500 room hotel straddling 10th Street in front of the convention center. I wonder if the third entity might be Hilton, which might want to remain unnamed as the saga with the old Hilton is ongoing--but that is just speculation.

That'd be interesting if it were Hilton. Also, is the only Hyatt the one next to the Airport? It'd be nice to have one in the city.

If they build the convention center hotel, then I hope they make it look like Rafael Vinoly intended it to look.

Hyatt has the one in the airport, another one near the airport, one in Cranberry, and they are finishing up one on the North Shore. But the latter three are all limited-service Hyatt Place hotels--I suspect a convention hotel would be another Hyatt Regency, like the one in the airport.

Hilton seems like an obvious bid now but could still be in flux with the old Hilton situation. AFAIK, it hasn't been decided either way what will happen down here, whether the ostensible hotel owners will be pushing ahead with Wyndham Grand, or whether Black Rock will foreclose which could end up bringing back the Hilton signs.

Hyatt could be interested in coming back to the downtown market, I guess. The answer is yes there's a Hyatt Regency at the airport which is the only "regular" Hyatt in the area. They also have the Hyatt Place properties, though, including the new one about to open on the North Shore. I can't imagine Omni would manage two properties here so the William Penn may need a new flag again if that were to happen.

The third bid could also be Marriott (more interesting than the Chatham Center building, or they might not be averse to having two regular Marriotts) or something from IC Hotels, perhaps Crowne Plaza, which maybe doesn't have quite the cred, true, but it's probably a viable convention hotel flag.
