Hi all...I'm looking to join a Tennis Club in town....any one have any suggestions on good "pickup" style clubs while I'm not playing people who play like Rapha Nadal?

This might be a fit:

Highland-Tennis (http://hptc40.org/default.aspx - broken link)

It is in Highland Park. Frick park has clay courts I don't know if they have an organization. I have seen some clubs/people post on Craigslist looking for people to join or start up tennis groups.

Indoor or Outdoor? Budget? Location? I would need to know these things before giving a better answer.

The nicest in town is the Fox Chapel Racquet Club. 9 Har Tru Courts. All outside, no lights, also has a pool and platorm tennis courts. Initiation and then monthly dues. A new indoor facility is set to open in Harmar run by the best pro in the city. In the city you have the Mellon bubble and the old N.I.T. facility. Up north there is Winwood. In the south, I heard that Glen Creek is pretty good.

I have no basis for comparing tennis clubs, but I wanted to note that Frick Park does indeed have a tennis club:

I thought tennis was played with rackets? Golf is what uses clubs, isn't it?

(Sorry. Couldn't resist...)

Tennis is played in clubs, and golf IS a racket.

And why do you park on a driveway, and drive on a parkway?

Default Tennis Options

Pittsburgh Golf Club located along schenley Park has indoor and outdoor courts. It's also big with squash in the winter. An active swimming pool area and pretty good food. It also has some pretty good member players. Pick up games are easy. But it's a private membership club.
The Frick park courts are run by a private club that was granted power by the City. The courts are red clay and it does have an active membership at a very reasonable cost. No bubble so when the cold arrives the courts are closed.
The burb's have some large indoor clubs. Oxford athletic operates the largest facility in the region in Monroeville with another facility in Wexford in the North hills. Plenty of indoor courts are found along with most all other indoor health and recreation facilities.
Pick up games are easiest to get at the public courts in Schenley Park. A sign up sheet is located there if you are unable to get a pick up game hanging by the courts.

I thought tennis was played on courts, kinda like lawyering, which is another racket...

Anyone heard anything about Glenn Creek? I saw their website...I'm just looking for social leagues...not end up playing the future Rapha's or Roddicks...
