That's a pretty sketchy area of the Northside... Its sometimes called Hollywood Place and its in the California-Kirkbride section which overall is an rough area... The area is known for drug activity, but there aren't any gangs; though local indepedent herion crews and gang members from Brighton Place set up shop in that area... Drug violence is rare and its only between people involded in criminal activity, so if your an average person you should be fine. Though don't get it twisted Hollywood Place has been in a slump for years and though its a working class neighborhood with a decent white population know that is very sketchy. So I don't advise you to move there.

Are you implying neighborhoods with black people in them are inherently unsafe or...?

No not at all... After all I'm as James Brown best said "I'm Black and I'm Proud" lol! Although, I assume a lot of people besides the urban pioneers/hipsters on this forum wouldn't want to live in an area with as much criminal activity as the "Hollywood Place" section of California-Kirkbride. Now I'm not saying it's as bad as the Northview Heights Projects or the Charles Street Valley, but the OP should look elsewhere if they are concerened about their safety in the area due to the level of street activity. I put Hollywood Place in the same category as the sketchy part of Lower Hill, West Oakland, South Oakland, Fairywood, Columbia Park, HoodTown, Upper Manchester, Allegheny Commons, Leland Point, Garfield Commons, etc.
-OP Perhaps other neighborhoods on the Northside such as: the Mexican War Streets, the part of Central Northside east of Federal Street-south of Jacksonia Street, Lower Manchester, Fineview, West Dutchtown or New Hampshire Drive section of Marsahll-Shadeland would be more suitable options.

BTW: I'm aware of all the safe, black areas in the county and do beileve there are safe 40+ percent black areas... It's just that Hollywood Place isn't at that level of say: Chartier's City, Windap, Ovserivitory Hill, Lower Manchester, most of Central Northside, Crawford Square, SuggaTop, Schenley Heights, Southern Staton Heights, Friendship, parts of of Garfield, parts of East Liberty, Southern Highland Park, Broadcrest Drive in Lincoln-Lemington, parts of the East Hills/Wilkinsburg/Penn Hills, the Garden City area of Monroeville,

If he did mean to imply that and people were to place bets and then we did a review of neighborhoods & crime I think everyone knows where the winning bets would be.

...I would take exception to the "inherently", however, because that adds a racist element to something that could otherwise just be an observation or probabilistic statement, although he already explained himself so this is just my two cents.
