Of course the highest-profile stuff is the work toward finishing the Great Allegheny Passage, but lots of other good things will also be going on this construction season:

So come June there will only be one missing portion of the Great Allegheny Passage? That's pretty cool - hopefully they can work something out and finish the whole thing by the end of the year.

Good info. I was just on the Riverfront Trail this weekend and it looks like that haven't begun work on the extention that's supposed to go through Sandcastle. Hopefully, they'll get the funding they need to get this done. I look forward to being able to bike from the Southside through The Waterfront and on to the Yough Trail.

Here's an interesting part of that article:

Quote:
A natural gas company, MarkWest Energy Partners of Denver, has agreed to build the spur in Cecil, Mount Pleasant and Chartiers, in exchange for using trail council land for a rail line connecting its processing plant near Houston, Pa., with the Wheeling & Lake Erie Railroad.
Is that the Gasland Trail?

They were talking about this over on the Bike Pittsburgh forum. One person remarked that it's like a plot of a bad movie, "evil corporation softens its public image by helping create a bike trail... everyone loves bike trails!"
