I'm speaking in generalizations.... I do realize that not 100% of the US population likes Chipotle. I was referring to I LIKE SPAM's comment that it appeared to be a "pittsburgh thing". its not.

Also...I despise Qdoba.

I've preferred Chipotle ever since it opened (almost) across the street from the Qdoba on Forbes in Oakland. But I can go for years without eating it. A friend wanted to go there a few weeks back, and I tried the burrito bowl instead of the burrito, and I find I like that a whole lot more than the burrito, which suffers from Gummy Flour Tortilla Syndrome.

I also think Qdoba tastes better, especially the slow-cooked pork. very tender. But Chipotle has better hot salsa.

Oh yea..I NEVER get burritos there. I find the tortillas at both places appalling. I get bowls every time.

Plus, you almost always get more stuff in the bowl than you do in the burrito. More bang for your buck!

This is going back a decade, but IMO, Baja Fresh was a better option than either Chipotle or Qdoba. Human-sized meals instead of elephant-sized meals (thus less expensive), much better salsas (and more selection), better tortillas... however, they really weren't really given a chance to develop here. Only three opened (Oakland, Monroeville, N.Fayette), and all three closed shortly thereafter in 2005 due to stockholder pressure at Wendy's, the corporate owner. When I was in Arlington/DC for a year, I ate lunch there almost weekly - and I'm not big on chains. I liked them - and y'all know I'm fussy when it comes to Mex-style food.

Speaking of chains, I'm still surprised we don't have a Cosi. Better than Panera, IMO.

I liked Taco Hut. Next to the King's Court.

There aren't many foods on my list of "only eat where grown", but oysters are near the top.
