I am starting a temp position at BNY Mellon at 500 grant st. I live in basically downtown Greensburg. What is going to be the quickest way to get downtown and back every day? I work 8:30-5. I've checked out the latrobe flyer from Delmont, the Greensburg flyer, or even driving in to wilkinsburg and getting a bus from there. Anyone have experience with this and no the quickest, or most convenient way?

Unforntunatley, That is a prime time rush hour. However, IMHO Rush hour is never that bad in PGH area, inless there is an accident ( or Pitts move in day). You are looking maybe an extra 30 45min. The obvious answers is to take the turnpike in irwin and then get on the parkway. Some people LOVE taking route 30 through irwin all the way down and then getting on the parkway at forrest hills area. I am not one of them.

Now, there are numerous bus routes from our area that will take you into the city. Also, van commutes . I do not have any info about them or where to find info on them.. To me the above mentioned worked well for me.

Catching the Westmoreland Flyer would be your best bet. Parking downtown is pretty expensive and adds up quick, and you'll save time and frustration by hitting the east busway & bypassing all the parkway traffic leading up to the squirrel hill tunnel.

Agreed, taking Westmoreland Transit is the way to go. Here is the schedule for the Greensburg Flyer: http://www.westmorelandtransit.com/p...20and%204S.pdf

It starts at the Transit Center in Downtown Greensburg and follows Route 30 and gets on the fast East Busway in Wilkinsburg. The fare would be $4.50 one way. You save on parking fees, gas, and wear and tear on your car if you take the bus.

I don't know if you can park at the Transit Center, but the bus makes stops at Park and Rides at Hempfield Pointe Shopping Center and Norwin Town Square if you are driving a car.

Take the bus, it's cheaper in the long run and you'll avoid the daily trouble of finding where to park and paying to park.

I think I'm going to drive to Wilkinsburg and catch the IF. Does anyone know the exact address of where it picks you up and where I can park?

Also, does anyone know where it picks you up at fifth and grant?

Their website isn't the most helpful site for people who have never rode a bus.

If you drive to Wilkinsburg, and take the east busway route, the EBA stops on 7th Ave across from the Gulf Building. About 3 blocks away.

Do I park at the Wilkinsburg Park and ride? I've never been there, so I don't wanna mess this up. Detailed instructions would be appreciated.

You can take the back way from 130 to 22 and catch the bus from Monroeville.

There really is no good way downtown thanks to the tunnels. Bleck.
