...I would buy this house and fix it up to be amazing.

https://www.realtor.com/realestatean...2_M32158-19306

On the one hand $280k is a LOT for a gut rehab on the North side. On the other hand this is a fabulous location and the house has some sweet details that could really become something special if you had another $280k to spend on the renovation. Smaller houses with much less character are listed in the $400s in the MWS, so $560k is not actually insane...

Just had to share. I love looking at listings of old Pittsburgh houses that need work but have great bones, so if anybody wants to post more here please do.

Heres one in Irwin I would love.
11660 Parkway Drive , North Huntingdon, PA 15642
-no affiliation with that co. i just can't find it on any other site. I dont think it shows up on zillow etc because the agent didn't colist it as residential for some reason. Needs to drop 100k also but, still cool house.

I'm a fan of those old mansions anywhere. I actually wish I had the "know-how". even with a mil, it's so hard to get great help.

I've saved it just in case price comes down or I lose my senses and decide to go insane and quit my job to try and restore that monster.

If we're talking about restoring a beautiful wreck, I've had my eye on this monster in Friendship for awhile.

If you're talking about actual homes that cost a million plus, there's actually very little available in Pittsburgh I like. A lot of the mansions in Squirrel Hill/Shadyside seem to have had beautiful woodwork to begin with, but it seems like just as with the common folk, painting all of it white was very popular in the past.

Wow! That house is amazing. Perhaps we could all just quit our jobs and start a Fight Club in live in it as is.

I was talking about beautiful wrecks, pipe dream restorations, and old houses that are money pits, basically. This is a really cool one!

Yes that Friendship woodwork is a work of art. This is an instance where I wouldn't mind taxpayer dollars used to restoration for community use of some type.

I don't love it. It's too far gone. There are no historic features to restore or preserve.

This one in Manchester has a few more original features surviving. Helpfully, the carriage house is fully restored as a studio apartment, so if you were single you could live there while you fix up the house.
