FOX is doing a two-night season premiere of American Idol. Tonight, they were in Savannah, GA. Tomorrow night, they're in Pittsburgh. I believe the show is on at the same time tomorrow night as it was tonight (8PM).

Stay tuned!

Ok, I've never actually watched this show before but the Pittsburgh connection has me tuning in. Is it normal for none of the contestants to be from the city where its being filmed? I'm halfway through the show & it just seems likes its people that follow the show around the country like groupies to tryout time after time. There was 1 girl from PA (the weird planking chick) so far, the rest are from far away; I was hoping to see more focus on local talent then thus far - hopefully the 2nd haf of the show if different.

It is normal for most of the contestants to be from elsewhere. When they were in Savannah last night, only two of them were from Georgia, from what I can recall.

I only caught the second half. I hope to catch the first half OnDemand later. From what I saw, AI showcased our city beautifully.

Did you read that in an article? I doubt only one for the entire season. Hopefully a Pittsburgher shines in Hollywood.

We got the girl from Sutersville. It's a small town on the Youghiogheny River in Westmoreland County, basically right over the Allegheny County line from Elizabeth Township. It's not far from I-70.

I meant the Pittsburgh audition show that was just on - only one contestant on it was from the state of Pennsylvania. Like I said, i've never watched the show before & probably wont again, I just expected it to have the local people that auditioned on it rather then all people that traveled here from wherever to audition.

I don't watch it either, but it's a hugely popular show. They only audition in a few cities each season -- there were 5 other locations besides Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh was the only one in the Northeast. Of course people are going to travel to audition. I don't think that's really very difficult to understand.

Well I know nothing about the show & have no idea how it works and it was disappointing nontheless for myself and everyone I know that watched it and expected to see pittsburghers featured on it.
It did showcase the city itself well independent of the actual contestants which was nice.
