I love the pronunciation guide. How do you pronounce North Versailles? Or Gyro? When in Rome...

Brew-SKET-tah is how it was pronounced by the Aliquippa Italians.

I used to have occasion to pronounce it out loud for a crowd four times a year, and I would always (disingenuously, but to laughter and eye-rolling) pronounce it "VairSIGH." Sometimes I would even say "VairSIGH du Nord." It's just the way I am.

And "gyro" is pronounced "hero," n'est-ce pas?

Il n'est pas quand vous êtes dans l'ouest de la Pennsylvanie. That was my point.

How, then, ici? I don't eat them, so I've never had to pronounce it.

It looks like valet parking is coming to Market Square:
Market Square plans valet service | TribLIVE | Pittsburgh

From 5 PM until midnight, valet parking will be offered for the flat rate of $5 (plus tip, of course). The article seems to imply that you can go wherever you want, even outside of Market Square, as you do not need to show a reciept or get a ticket validated.

Back in the day, at Tessaro's in Bloomfield you could eat that burger plain with no bun it it was amazing. Gone are those days I guess. Sort of like ben and jerry's ice cream. No quality, but lots of cover up sweet stuff and plenty of guar gum.
That place is so crammed many people get their meal to go. It is overpriced also. 13$ for a burger? Thisi si how now they can open a second location in the South Side.

I am waiting for istanbull Grille to open a sit down location downtown but i know it is not going to happen soon. meanwhile I go to Ephesus.

To be fair, the $13 burger is TWO 1/2 lb patties. Most of the other burgers are under $9.

Details about Perle, opening soon:

Market Square Pittsburgh: Tiny Bubbles on the Square

Quote:
With its champagne bar theme and decor, Perlé brings a sophisticated atmosphere to the Square for after work, get-togethers and late-night rendezvous. With muted hues and subdued lighting, Perlé's centerpiece will be a 24-foot long bar that stretches nearly the length of the intimate but spacious interior. . . . With a bit of a twist, Perlé will be open for public and private events on a split schedule. The doors open Wednesday through Saturday to the public. The kitchen will serve an innovative tapas menu with a continental European flavor and will stay open past midnight most evenings, with even longer hours on weekends. From Sunday through Tuesday, Perlé will be available for private functions such as weddings or business meetings.

I would be seriously annoyed if I were invited to a wedding held on a Monday or Tuesday (slightly less annoyed for a Sunday wedding, but still annoyed).

This is one of those things that sounds nice in theory but seems too uppity for the Pittsburgh crowd.

I wish them luck!

When is Il Pizzaiolo coming? They announced it last October. There doesn't seem to be any activity at the site.
