I was just reading through the PAT thread for awhile and now i'm a bit confused. Are they REALLY trying to phase out pub. trans? Is it really that dire of a situation? Or are some people exagerating? Is it a ploy to raise rates? What is going on with this? I mean it seems to me funding for publ. trans. should be a top priority for any large city. Most that i am very familliar with (Minneapolis, Chicago, Cleveland) seem to be full speed ahead on EXPANDING thier already thorough transit systems. But it seems to me in Pittsburgh, without a doubt or exception, it should be a HIGHER priority than most cities with it's configuration and road network. Why is Pittsburgh backsliding in this category?

Don't blame us!

The state has had an unresolved transportation funding crisis for many years. It has finally reached the full-on-crisis point, but our governor was elected on a no-new-taxes pledge and doesn't appear to know what to do about the transportation crisis.

That is what has led to a cut in state transit funding in Pittsburgh, and if that doesn't get resolved we're facing terrible service cuts, but it doesn't indicate a lack of local support for transit.

I have some coworkers who live in Crafton and ride the bus in the morning to work, downtown. from there you could take another bus to the hospitals, if this is where you intend to work.
As for your friend yes, help out as much as you can, in any levels you can, just as if you were family, ok? She/he will appreciate it.

Well Im open to working anywhere bus service is prevalent. I suppose i dont really prefer one area over another. Just need to make "dem dollahs" haha. There is one new development now. Maybe moving to the Carnaige/Heidleburg area in May. So i'm not too sure how that changes things. But at this point i dont really care. lol. I just want to get there! I cant wait and am so excited to finally be leaving this barron and fridgid wasteland. Oh and on her part, she's about to be spoiled! Haha. Dishes done, dinner made, $ in pocket, im an extremely courtious guy. I won't just try to make my presence as uninvasive as possible, ill try to make my presence an advantage for both of us.

I am really suprised no one has mentioned the Rivers Casino (located in the N. Shore by Heinz field) They seem to always be hiring a steady flow of workers and you would have chance to move up the food chain, if you are a good worker.

Also the stadiuams have opening once in a while..
