Hello there. My fiance and I will be moving to PA in about a year because of his new job and I would like to know of a good, safe place to live that is preferably not in the city. His job is mainly in Pittsburg so we do want something that isn't too bad with driving. We will be living in an apartment so any suggestions with apartments would be nice also! Around 800$ would be our max.

In what part of town will he be working? What sort of amenities/neighborhood are you looking for?

I haven't the slightest clue where in town. I know that his friend is living in Washington right now and he says it is a short/nice drive to where the job will be because he is working in the same place my fiance will be working. We want somewhere quite, with fairly low crime. Somewhere close to a park for our dogs and near shops where I can apply for a job. Does that help?

Sounds like maybe his job will be at Southpointe? Just guessing- its right on the edge of the Allegheny/Wash county border.

Depends on what kind of area you are looking for. Lots of choices.

Do you want to rent or buy? How far of a commute are you willing to put up with and do you want to be near the city? Fun/hip area or quiet and suburban? Rural?

Again, lots of choices.

He is going to be going into a Geology job if that helps... Adn we want to rent just an apartment for right now. I was thinking 20/30mins of commuting at most. We don't like city THAT much but we are willing to give it a try. Fun would be good. We are in our early/mid twenties!

We can't provide you with any advice until you give us a more definitive location for where he will be working.

Everything you have told us doesn't make sense. You say he is going to work in town but it's a short drive from Washington.

Downtown isn't close to Washington. When you can provide specfics, we can be more helpful.

Geology? That means the gas industry. Will he be working in Canonsburg? Or in the city on Technology Drive?

Ask him and let us know.

She did say "Washington County" but that is still a pretty big area. Northern tip of the country is commuting distance to many Pittsburgh neighborhoods, not so much with the rest of Wash county.

She said his friend lives in Washington (WA, PA or county, don't know) and his commute is short. She still needs to give us more info than that. She keeps referring to the city and to town. I suspect that he isn't working anywhere near the city. I'm betting he will be working in Canonsburg. She can live anywhere around there and not be in the city. It's almost the middle of nowhere.

Maybe the city she is referring to is Washington PA? There is such thing as downtown Washington PA. Anyhow the rent is cheap there, not to mention that sale tax is cheaper than Allegheny's.
