I will be moving to pittsburgh in few weeks for a new job. My work is in jeannette PA and my wife works in shadyside area.

we are looking for a location close to shadyside, so that i commute the longer distance.

i personally like the high-rise apartments and definitely love the buildings in pittsburgh area. which apartments to do you suggest in the 900-1000 dollar range.

Thank you

I could not recommend any of the large apt buildings in shadyside. Perhaps someone has had successful with one of them, but everything I've heard about the big rental companies in shadyside has been terrible. I'm talking about terrible management that never fixes anything, thin walls, bugs, broken a/c or heat, loud noise from drunk neighbors, etc. Try a smaller apt complex that has four to six units. Most likely the landlord will be local and fix any issues himself/herself. Stay away from companies like Mozart and Forbes mgmt. They're all sleezeballs. Craigslist has a large list of private rentals there. Also, have you tried Monroeville? It would be way cheaper than Shadyside, better rentals imo, and you'd be halfway between both job sites, although the commute to Shadyside would be more difficult than the commute to jeannette. I dunno, I just dont think shadyside is worth the money people pay to live there. It's nice, but there are a lot better options.

thank you for the detailed reply Love2Golf...we did se if monroeville would be a good option, but there are not many of those high rises in that area which is our preference.
