The average temperature in Pittsburgh in March 2012 was 51.5 degrees, which is a new record for the warmest March in Pittsburgh meteorological history. The old record was 51.2 degrees, set in 1945 and 1946. At the link, scroll a little more than halfway down the page and look for the section labeled "WARMEST AVERAGES FOR EACH MONTH," and you'll see it right there at the top of the list for March.

It's worth noting that a warm March doesn't necessarily foreshadow a hot summer. March 2000 is on the list of the 20 warmest, but the temperature failed to reach 90 degrees that summer.

I wish every Pittsburgh March could be like this one... it really made life so much more pleasant and dynamic than usual at this time of year.

Not I. Had to jump into yard work I normally don't get to until around Mother's Day. I don't recall ever mowing the lawn in March here. Let alone twice. Not to mention weeding. Yuck.

You can have this.

I believe that global warming is happening, but I do not believe that you can use one record month as proof that it is, especially since the old record that was broken was a two-way tie from 1945 and 1946. I'm also not sure that it's related to human activity either, considering the temperature of the sun has increased in recent decades, and so has the temperature on Mars. Furthermore, planetary orbits are never perfect circles around the sun, so the closer a planet gets, even if slightly, the warmer it can become.

I still haven't mowed the lawn once, but my one next door neighbor did yesterday so I guess it's coming.

I'm burning lots of tires outside just in case - the more winters like this the better.

It must be a mess! I have mowed mine 3 times so far and needs to be cut again!
