My Friend just sent me some pics from FB....Looks like Pittsburgh has turned into Philadelphia again with the swarming of the Phillies Fans...

Should be a great weekend for city businesses...

Bring 'em on, and the Mets fans too, for that matter. Pretty soon they'll realize that we're not as far away as they think.

Not necessarily from Philadelphia or the Eastern part of the state. More than likely people from the Center part of the state who realize the team to the West has been weak for years, while the team to the East has been the Beast. They are just riding the Phillies bandwagon.

I have a view of PNC Park from my office -- looks like a great day to be there!

there will be many people from Philadelphia there this weekend (though, as you point out, not necessarily ALL from Philly...there are large swaths of the state that fly phillies and steelers flags so to speak). BB, in addition to what has become an annual trip to the burgh for the phils (it's easier to get tickets to see the phils in pittsburgh than philly), the only rivalry the two cities actually have will be on display (pens flyers). a friend of mine texted me that tix were going for $250 for that game. I have tickets to saturday and sunday phils. it doesn't hurt that pnc is an exceptionally nice park. still, DC is restricting sales of its tickets to people with local zip codes as a promotional gimmick to get fans to show up rather than having DC be Philadelphia south as its become (of course, Phillies fans know all too well that the only real way to do that is put a good team on the field....the vet used to become the sixth borough when the mets were in town until the phils got good and the mets got bad, now shea stadium is north philly.)

The North Shore was "pretty much chaos," said Brian Evancho, who was about 20 minutes late for a meeting near the Andy Warhol Museum after getting stuck in traffic. "It wasn't moving," Evancho, 24, of Wexford, said...
Evancho's frustration was only compounded by seeing fans enjoying their tailgating in the parking lots: "Then you have to walk past all this," Evancho said. "I want to go to the game."

No, that's not remotely the case.

Tend to agree with JH, the fans that come do so to follow a good team and to get to see them a lot cheaper.

Goodness! Do people just complain to complain and only think of themselves or what? The Pirate opener has always been a huge draw. There is always traffic and a crowd. Get over yourself and realize the world doesn't revolve around oneself. Others go to games, not just this Evancho. Sounds like an idiot.

I'm a Mets fan, but always liked the Pirates...seeing a game at PNC Park is on my to do list...seen it the first year it was built, but it was not a game day when I was in town...if I ever do make the move, I'll support the club with season tix...I'll wear a Pirates hat to every game (except the days they play the Mets)

I'm a big baseball guy, and I really like how the Pirates look over the next 5 to 6 years, the question is will ownership pay to keep these young guns when they hit free agency...

Great City & a Great Ballpark.
