Sometimes I think Pittsburgh is wasted on Pittsburghers. Outsiders see it, but the locals don't.

Primanti's? Yuck. Get drunk in a church? This list is terrible and not representative of the best of the city.

While I agree with you on the inclusion of Primanti's at all—please, writers and ravers, just stop it with the sandwich fries!—to be fair, I need to note that the writer first recommends eating at the restaurant at the Ace Hotel. When I went there during their opening, I had what I thought was the best burger I'd ever eaten (not for nothing, they got "rare-but-not-raw" absolutely right).

I took visiting friends to the Mattress Factory and Randyland. Later that day we mentioned it to the waitress where we ate, and she said she grew up here but hadn't heard of either.

You're right. I feel like I'm pulling strings with getting some people to actually do stuff around here.

I've seen Randyland a few times, but admittedly never actually knew what it was called for a long time. Been to the Mattress Factory though, cool spot.

But wait - she grew up "here"...in Pittsburgh? I can see how she has never heard of either.
Or did you mean in that neighborhood. I can't understand how there is no curiosity whatsoever about one's own neighborhood.

Maybe cause they have higher wages outside Pittsburgh to waste it here.

Well, Randyland is free. A membership to the Carnegie Museums gets you into four museums as often as you want to for free. You can get a ticket to a Pirates game for about $10.
