Although hot locations like Lawrenceville and Polish Hill, among others, have enjoyed huge jumps in popularity and real estate price increases, the region is still full of decent residences at reasonable prices.

I was reviewing the craiglist, I saw the 1br Bellevue apartment I lived in during the early 90's at $500 which included parking and a 2 block walk to public transport on Ohio River Blvd in a modern building. I saw a 650 sq ft 1 br Brentwood apartment I lived in during the 80's at $465, a little less modern but still post WWII.

If someone wants to lives in a hot location, with lots of amenities or to be in the heart of it all, sure they are going to have to pay beaucoup bucks. But you don't have to, unless you want to.
